Undergraduate (UG) Level Courses

  • Students who have Appeared for/Cleared Class 10+2 (CBSE/ICSE/IB/State Board/NIOS or equivalent as per UGC Guidelines) are eligible to write AIEED Exam.
  • Class 10+1 Students can also write AIEED 2020. Qualifying students will be eligible for direct admission in the academic year 2021 after clearing the interview and portfolio stage.
  • PTE Exam (Academics) to be cleared within 1 year of course commencement for progression to UK University.

POSTGRADUATE (PG) LEVEL COURSES

  • Graduates or students pursuing graduation in any discipline from a recognised university can apply for this course.

Scholarships:

The scholarship will be awarded on first come first served basis and would be valid for a certain time-period. Once all the scholarships are claimed, further students would not be considered for the same, even if they fulfil all the requirements.

Student will be provided a supporting letter from the institution confirming their admission to the course which student has to submit with the financial institution where they wish to apply for loan.

NIFT entrance exam is a national level design entrance test that is conducted by National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). Candidates have to qualify the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT) to get selected. Admission will be provided to the qualified candidates in various campuses of NIFT located in Chennai, New Delhi, Bhopal, Gandhinagar, Kangra, Jodhpur, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Raebareli, Shillong, Kannur, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Srinagar and Patna.

NID Entrance Exam is a national level design admission test that is conducted by National Institute of Design (NID). This is a national level entrance exam conducted to enrol the eligible candidates into various UG and PG courses provided by the institute. Eligible candidates will get admission in B.Des/ GDPD and M.Des courses on the basis of scores obtained in the two phases of entrance test - prelims and mains. Admission will be provided to the candidates in various campuses of NID situated in Gujarat, Ahmedabad, Kurukshetra, Vijayawada and Bangalore. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR B.DES./GDPD

All applicants applying for the B.Des. and GDPD programmes must fulfil criteria of both age and education qualification.

Age Limit:

  • For Indian Nationals in General Category and General EWS Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2001 are eligible to apply for admission.
  • For Indian Nationals in Reserved Category (Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL), Scheduled Caste (SC) & Scheduled Tribe (ST)): Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1998 are eligible to apply for admission.
  • For Indian Nationals in PwD Reserved Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1996 are eligible to apply for admission.
  • For Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Super numerary) Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2001 are eligible to apply for admission.

Educational Qualification:

Applications for academic year 2021-22 are open to applicants who have passed or will appear for higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2020-21 in any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities, etc.) from any recognised board of education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or their equivalent

Examinations considered equivalent to these are as follows:

  • Final examination of the 10+2 system under a central or state board recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Refer www.aiu.ac.in
  • Intermediate or two-year pre-university examination under a board or university recognised by the Association of Indian Universities.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
  • Senior secondary school examination under the National Institute of Open Schooling, with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Any public school, board or university examination completed in India or in any foreign country recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities.
  • H.S.C. vocational examination.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination at the Advanced (A) level taken in London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka.
  • AICTE approved three-year Full time Diploma after Class X offered by Board of Technical Education of any state in India or Union Territories as mentioned on http://www.facilities.aicte-india.org
  • Candidates who have completed final examinations for class XII (or equivalent) outside India or from a board not specified above should produce an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) confirming that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class XII examination conducted in India. The certificate is required to be submitted at the time of document verification.

Overseas Category (Supernumerary) candidates:

Foreign citizens - applicants holding citizenship of a country other than the Republic of India are eligible to apply only under the overseas (supernumerary) category, provided they fulfill all the eligibility criteria mentioned in Sections 4.1 of Admissions Handbook (Refer here https://admissions.nid.edu/NIDA2021/download/BDes_AdmissionsHandbook2021-22.pdf )

In addition to the seats available for the B.Des. programme, an additional 15% supernumerary seats have been available for overseas applicants. The number of seats available under Overseas (supernumerary) category are as below:

The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) measures the aptitude of the applicant for specific field of study, i.e. Architecture. The test measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking ability that have been acquired over a long period of time, and that are related to specific field of study, i.e. Architecture.

Through this exam, admission will be offered to 5 years Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) across India. This exam is conducted two times in a year i.e. April and July. Many private or government universities and institutes consider NATA scores to provide admission in Architecture courses.

NATA 2021 Eligibility Criteria

  • Age Limit: There will be no age limit criteria to apply for the exam.
  • Qualifications: Candidates must pass 12th class from recognized board.
  • Appearing Candidates: Candidates those are appearing in the qualifying exam can also apply.
  • Marks Criteria: Candidates must secure minimum of 50% marks and 50% aggregate in PCM subjects. 5% relaxation is given to SC, ST, OBC-NCL category or PwD (Persons with disability) candidates.
  • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are compulsory subjects.
  • Art Stream Candidates: Candidates with art stream are also eligible if they have qualified PCM subjects conducted by CBSE.
  • Diploma: 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject can also apply.

NATA 2021

Outline of Aptitude Test

The aptitude test will comprise of questions that could be of the Multiple-Choice type (MCQ), Multiple Select type (MSQ), Preferential Choice type (PCQ) and Numerical Answer type (NAQ).

The questions will carry either 1 mark,2 marks or 3 marks and 125 questions have to be answered in 180 minutes. The medium of Aptitude test will be the English language.

The aptitude of the candidate will be assessed using some or all of the following techniques:

  • Diagrammatic Reasoning - Tests the ability of logical reasoning, using diagrams and scenarios
  • Numerical Reasoning - Tests mathematical ability through simple problems
  • Verbal Reasoning - Assesses the ability to assess verbal logic.
  • Inductive Reasoning - Tests the ability to see patterns and analyse given data.
  • Situational Judgment - Tests problem-solving ability.
  • Logical Reasoning - Tests ability to recognise patterns, sequences or relationships between shapes and imagery.
  • Abstract Reasoning - Will assess general knowledge, and ability to utilise knowledge in new situations.

Questions could be asked in various topics that assess candidates on basic concepts in mathematics, physics and geometry, language and interpretation, elements and principles of design, aesthetic sensitivity, colour theory, lateral thinking and logical reasoning, visual perception and cognition, graphics and imagery, building anatomy and architectural vocabulary, basic techniques of building construction and knowledge of material, general knowledge and current affairs, etc. and are may not be limited to those outlined.

Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is conducted by IIT Bombay under the guidance of the UCEED-CEED Implementation Committee every year to offer admission to eligible candidates in Bachelor of Design (BDes) programmes offered at colleges accepting UCEED scores.

UCEED is an online examination of three hours duration that is typically conducted in the month of January every year. Merely appearing for the UCEED exam or securing a spot in the UCEED rank list does not guarantee admission in BDes programmes. Candidates who qualify for UCEED need to separately apply for admission as per the procedure prescribed by IIT Bombay. Admissions in BDes are done on the basis of merit in each category. The merit list is prepared on the basis of scores obtained by candidates in the written entrance exam.

UCEED application form 2021 for BDes admissions at participating colleges (IIT Bombay, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Guwahati and IIITDM Jabalpur) has been released on March 13.

Results of UCEED 2021

  • Results will be declared on March 10, 2021.
  • UCEED results will be available on the website. Candidates need to use their user login and password (created during registration process) for viewing the results on the webpage.
  • UCEED qualified students will be able to download their score cards from March 10, 2021.
  • Hard copy of the UCEED score card will not be available and hence will not be sent to the qualified candidates through email or by post.
  • Obtaining a rank in UCEED 2021 does not guarantee admission to the BDes programme.

REFUND POLICY FOR BDes ADMISSION 2021

  • The last date to withdraw/cancel a provisionally allotted seat is August 16, 2021.
  • For those candidates who withdrew/cancelled their seats on or before August 16, 2021, the seat acceptance fees ( after deducting the processing fee) will be refunded to the mentioned bank account details at the time of filling out BDes Application for admission.

Syllabus:

UCEED 2021 will have two parts. Part-A will have questions from the following topics:

VISUALIZATION AND SPATIAL ABILITY

Pictorial and diagrammatic questions to test, understanding of transformation and/or manipulation of 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships, knowledge of practical and everyday mechanical and scientific concepts.

OBSERVATION AND DESIGN SENSITIVITY

Ability to detect concealed properties in ordinary things, people, situations, and events, and thinking critically about them. Applying attention to certain details, analysing, reasoning, classifying, inferring and predicting. Ability to discern subtle differences in visual properties and aesthetic outcomes.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL AWARENESS

General awareness of environmental factors such as climate, population, water, vegetation, pollution, weather, natural resources etc., and their implications on the design of products, images, infrastructure and environment. Awareness of social and cultural connection with design, history of the designed artefact, and socially responsible and environmentally sustainable design responses. History of art, sculpture and literature.

ANALYTICAL AND LOGICAL REASONING

Ability to look at information, be it qualitative or quantitative in nature, and discern patterns within the information. Ability to weigh opinions, arguments or solutions against appropriate criteria. Ability to check for hidden bias or hidden assumptions and whether evidence and argument support conclusions. Ability to use logic and structured thinking to deduce from a short passage, which of a number of statements is the most accurate response to a posed question. Data Interpretation, brainteasers, and patterns.

LANGUAGE AND CREATIVITY

Ability to understand and use Standard English. Reading comprehension, knowledge of English grammar. Ability to think creatively in terms of alternatives, ability to distinguish innovative options and think out of the box.

DESIGN THINKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING

Ability to use visual analogies, metaphors, signs and symbols. Ability to understand complexity, identify problem, generate alternatives, evaluate options and select solutions.

Part-B will have ONE question from the following topic:

Ability to draw products, people or scenes in proportion with good line quality, composition, proportion, perspective, and shading.
